Location Recce & Risk Assessment: Locations 4 & 5

Upon deciding to go back and film an interview with a victim of cyber bullying on 23/3/12, we carried out two location recces and risk assessments of the locations we were going to use.

Location 4
Location: Mentmore Cresent, Dunstable
Date of visit: 26/3/12
Description of scene to be filmed here: We intend to film the presenter link, which will introduce the interview with the victim, here.

Lighting level: There's a good level of lighting at this location in day light. However, the trees do cast shadows onto the road. We will therefore have to plan the time when we are going to film the footage carefully so shadows are cast into the shot.
Noise level: This is a quiet side street as not much traffic goes through it. Therefore, the overall noise level is very low.
Potential hazards: The road poses a potential hazard. However, as previously mentioned, it is very quiet.
Overall suitability: This location is suitable for this scene as it is quiet and is simple.

When testing the suitability of the location we noticed a few hazards which may cause problems for us during filming. We have therefore created a risk assessment to see how we can prevent problems from arising.
Location 5
Location: 34 Mentmore Cresent, Dunstable
Date of visit: 26/3/12
Description of scene to be filmed here: We intend to film the interview with the victim of cyber bullying here.

Lighting level: There's a good level of lighting at this location. However, the location also has built in black out curtains. This will be useful to us as we intend to include low key lighting in the interview.
Noise level: The noise level is fairly low as the street outside isn't busy and the location is not near a main road.
Potential hazards: The electrical items and household pets pose a hazard. However, wires are already tucked away and the animals are well behaved and trained.
Overall suitability: This location is suitable for this scene.

When testing the suitability of the location we noticed a few hazards which may cause problems for us during filming. We have therefore created a risk assessment to see how we can prevent problems from arising.
